New Report Maps Transit Access Gaps Across Three Districts
Our latest analysis links commute times, service frequency, and housing cost burden to show where transit investment could reduce displacement pressure.
CCI has published a new report mapping transit access gaps across three urban districts where housing costs are rising fastest. The analysis combines open transit data, resident survey responses, and wage information to identify corridors where long commutes and unreliable service compound housing insecurity.
Key findings
- 42% of surveyed renters spend more than 90 minutes commuting each day
- Evening and weekend service gaps disproportionately affect care workers and retail employees
- Neighborhoods with the longest commutes also show the highest eviction filing rates
Recommendations
- Prioritize off-peak service improvements on corridors serving cost-burdened renters
- Coordinate transit planning with affordable housing preservation strategies
- Publish rider feedback loops before major route changes

The full report and district-level maps are available for download on our Work page. A public briefing for transit agency staff and community advocates is scheduled for late July.
