Accompanying the Rangamati landslide susceptibility assignment, CCI completed a research track on integrating geospatial models with community risk narratives in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

The study tested how participatory risk ranking compares with modelled susceptibility zones, documenting areas of agreement and divergence that matter for preparedness investment.

Community-sensitive research ethics guided engagement in a complex social and geographic setting, reinforcing CCI’s standards for fieldwork beyond the plains and coast

Results improved the final susceptibility products and generated a methods note on hybrid geospatial–community risk profiling.

Lessons transfer to coastal hazard mapping where official maps and community knowledge similarly need structured reconciliation

Programme highlights

  • Hybrid geospatial–community methods
  • Participatory risk ranking comparison
  • Ethics guidance for hill tract research
  • Transferable methods note for coastal work
CCI embeds gender-responsive methodologies, disability-inclusive data collection, and intersectional analysis across all fieldwork and reporting — not as an add-on, but as a core design principle.
